As we continue through Mental Health Awareness Week, today we turn our focus to an issue that touches almost everyone at some point: body acceptance. The pressures we face around body image are staggering. Recent studies show that 28% of young people have been exposed to online content promoting eating disorders. Social media, influencers, and advertising flood our screens with a stream of idealised, often heavily edited images, constantly pushing the message that we need to look a certain way

As we observe Mental Health Awareness Week, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the simple, powerful things that can boost our wellbeing. One clue is right there in the word Naturism itself: nature. We’ve long known that spending time in nature improves our mental health. The sights, sounds, and rhythms of the natural world help ground us, calm our nervous systems, and lift our spirits. But Naturists have discovered that being in nature without clothes can deepen that connection even further. T

As we mark Mental Health Awareness Week, today we confront some of the more disturbing statistics around young people and self-harm, numbers that highlight the urgent need for compassionate action and greater awareness. Recent figures reveal that 35% of young people have encountered suicide or self-harm content online. Even more shockingly, one in five young people report having self-harmed. These are not just numbers, they represent real individuals, many of whom are struggling to cope with o

Not long to go now until British Naturism's annual event in Windermere. We'll take over Fell Foot Wood for another back to basics camping experience. Fell Foot Wood is a stunningly beautiful working woodland, two minutes from the National Trust's Fell Foot Park and the banks of Lake Windermere. It's a laid-back weekend focusing on nature, wellness and natural healing - though there will be live entertainment. Naked fell walk and skinny dips in local tarns come as standard! This week marks Mental Health Awareness Week, and the theme for 2025 is one that speaks to the heart of wellbeing: “community". Poor mental health is now the largest single contributor to ill-health in the UK, and the strength of our communities plays a vital role in addressing it. Thriving, supportive communities are known to protect and promote good mental health — but in recent years, poverty and inequality have steadily eroded the fabric of many such communities. As Naturists, we know we ca

This week marks Mental Health Awareness Week, with the theme for 2025 focusing on one of the most powerful tools for wellbeing: community. In the digital age, this connection increasingly plays out online. Around 85% of young people access online communities daily. Yet while these spaces can provide a sense of belonging and support, they can also expose users to harmful or disturbing content, something 68% of young people report encountering. Abuse and bullying online remain commonplace, and

Naturism is ... Liberating!
"The thought of nudity is scarier than nudity itself"
When you shed your clothes you also shed just a few of the burdens of everyday life.
The feeling of liberation, discovery and freedom is something that you cannot describe.
... Healthy
Our skin benefits from exposure to light and air.
A 2015 survey proved that Naturists have higher self-esteem and better body confidence.
... Friendly
Naturism is great for single people as well as families and children alike – it’s an activity that all the family can do together.
Naturist children are happy, well-adjusted and safe; they grow up with a better understanding of what will happen to their bodies and enjoy a relaxed, outdoor life.
... Active
Holidays, Beaches, Clubs, Swims, Walking, Sporting, Camping and 'Glamping' (and why not!)
Things to do – you’ll wonder how you did without us - come to an event, find your nearest club or swim, go on a Naturist holiday (including group holidays just for BN Members), get involved with the British Naturism members’ online community, and sign up for free newsletters.
... Legal!
We know you were wondering!
There is no offence of 'nudity' in UK law otherwise we wouldn't be here and thousands of people wouldn't cycle naked through our towns and cities each year. But the law can be confusing and some people incorrectly assume that simple nudity can be harmful - especially to children.
Here at BN we campaign to improve the understanding of the law and challenge misconceptions about social nudity.
